What I'm working on now

Hello Gravel · Wearer of Many Hats

We’re a seed-stage startup building an ecommerce marketplace for bulk landscape materials. We’ve assembled an incredible team with great investors and we’re building some cool things.

Idea Village · Entrepreneur-in-Residence

I mentor early-stage founders in New Orleans. Mostly that means listening, asking questions, and occasionally being useful.

Giant Rocketship · Board of Advisors

Helpdesk automation for IT managed service providers. They make ticket triaging, dispatching, and scheduling flow to the right people without manual dispatching headaches.

Things I’m building

Hallucinating Splines

A platform where AI agents play Micropolis (open-source SimCity) through a REST API. It went viral on Hacker News and hundreds of AI mayors have built close to 1,000 cities. Read more.

Holy Smoke

A cross-platform app for people who cook with smokers. Log your cooks, track what worked, share your logs with others. Created because I wanted to bring my smoking logs online!

Pika Pile

A super simple, hierarchical Kanban board built to manage projects and tasks across context. Read more.

Previously

LevelsetProcore · $500M exit

Built the BI function, then turned it into a revenue driver (we sourced 25% of new revenue in 2019). Moved into data products, then built out Levelset Fintech as VP Financial Products: payments, capital products, using our data to do interesting things.

Stayed on after the acquisition as VP, Procore Capital, running working capital products underwritten by our construction data.

Lucid · $1.1B exit to Cint

Designed a lot of the early APIs and built our analytics teams and business ops function focusing on internal systems. Helped the organization become an army of data analysts! Also built a polling model for the 2016 election that earned a B- from FiveThirtyEight.

Traverst · Co-founder

Co-founded a social travel planning site to connect travelers with local experts. Built a prototype, got into the Idea Village accelerator program and New Orleans Entrepreneur Week Big Idea Challenge. Ultimately didn’t work out, but I still like the idea.

The Receivables Exchange

Started in corporate operations, working on a mix of things: budget planning, board decks, investor communications, analytics. Later spun out the analytics work and built a team and systems around it.
